Our service at Craigshields have been very busy over the past few months, see their report on what's been going on in April - June:
Easter seen all the services come together for celebrations at Head Office – they know how to throw a party. Craigshields took along some Easter themed cupcakes and mini cheesecakes made by staff and service users. There was bingo, gardening, line dancing and many more activities to be enjoyed by all. Everyone involved had a fantastic time – well done to the organisers!
Staff member, John has been busy supporting service users in the garden and has planted a variety of different vegetables. Service users are enjoying watching them grow and can’t wait to sample once ready.
In May, Craigshields seen one of their long-standing service users move on after more than 12 years. Staff and service users held a farewell party for them – The Last Supper and wished him great success in his new accommodation.
We have welcomed 2 new staff members to the team - Joanna and Lisa were both successful in securing part time positions and have settled in well at Craigshields. We wish them all the best in their roles as support staff.
We also have 2 new service users, who are settling in nicely and we look forward to supporting them and getting to know them better.
Nicola brought in her miniature dachshund puppy, Marley for a visit. Service users loved puppy cuddles, especially Liam who can be seen in the photos below holding little Marley.
Liam continues his volunteering position at the Usual Place and is pictured in the gallery with some delicious treats. He has especially enjoyed his time in the kitchen making a variety of soups and baking cakes. Liam has completed 9/10 modules in preparation for starting his SVQ. We are all very proud of Liam’s achievements.
We held a party for Mental Health Awareness week, and service users enjoyed a buffet, quiz and games day. The theme was to wear green, and it was nice to see so many service users and staff take part and help raise awareness for something so close to heart.
With Scottish Summer landing early, service users decided to make the most of the sunshine and headed to Southerness for a day trip with staff in May. They enjoyed a walk along the beach to the lighthouse, a visit to the arcades, and a chippy lunch.
Staff member, John, celebrated his birthday in June with staff and service users all joining in to sing and enjoy a piece of cake. Linda also celebrated her birthday with a dinosaur cake.
Ian was accompanied on a day trip to Moffat and enjoyed a walk round Station Park and lunch with support worker Kairon.
Joanna and Lisa have accompanied service users, Barrie, John and Liam out walking during the nice weather with Dock Park being a popular place to visit.
