Mental Health Awareness Week at DGMHA - 'Wear it Green' Day
This year the theme of Mental Health Awareness week is Community. Promoting being a part of a positive community to benefit your mental health.
On 'Wear it Green' day our services within DGMHA brought their communities together to enjoy some good company and socialising. Our teams each have reported on their days:
West Outreach Service
Kicking their day off, West Outreach had a visit from the Hulk!
In the afternoon the service enjoyed some cakes and green apple Fanta that Audrey (the Hulk) brought for wear it green day. And everyone had a good chat about outings they would like to go on this year.
Then they had their regular social and walking group and went for a game of football in the sun at the local park, which everyone enjoyed.
Castle Douglas Service
'wee wander and blether' to Carlingwark Park
Reported by Team Leader, Lucy:
Service Users John, Alistair and Andrew all came down to the park with Emma, Harold and myself, and enjoyed some Ice Cream from Moores as a little treat on the way. We all had a good time on our mindfulness wander down, blethering and taking in the lovely scenery.
Andrew done some signing, whilst Alistair enjoyed watching and feeding the ducks.
We also found the bench donated by DGMHA and enjoyed a wee sit down on it.
Emma and myself wore Green in honour of Mental Health Awareness week.
Craigshields Service
'Food and Fun'
"Staff and service users at Craigshields had a lovely afternoon yesterday for Mental Health Awareness week. They requested a buffet and quiz day.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the quiz provided by Becky and decided to play charades afterwards.
We had a visit from Jamie who has settled in nicely at his new home and service users were pleased to see him and hear how well he is getting on." - Nicola, Deputy Team Leader
