Board Director

Dumfries and Galloway Mental Health Association is a long established successful local mental health charity, providing care, support and accommodation in the form of supported or residential to people across Dumfries and Galloway, who have been assessed as requiring our support.

Supporting people who use our services to lead an improved quality of life, mental health and physical wellbeing is our underlying philosophy across all our services.

The Board of Directors is the governing body and ultimate decision makers of the organisation as detailed in our Articles of Association. As such, we must discharge our responsibilities to the organisation in accordance with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR).

OSCR states that:

Charity trustees are defined in Scottish Charity Law as people in general management and control of the charity. This means the trustees are the people legally responsible for all decisions and actions taken by the charity and have a shared responsibility and requirement under charity law.

This is a time of exciting change at DGMHA, developing new and existing services. We are recruiting new board members to join our Board.

We welcome board members from all backgrounds relevant to our role and responsibilities, including mental health, lived experience of mental health, social care, health, finance, business, human resources, quality assurance and audit, health and safety, technology.

However, we would be delighted to hear from anyone who feels their skills or experience could be an asset to us.

You will be required to attend regular Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting. Being a director on our board is a voluntary, unpaid role, however expenses are paid.
