Castle Douglas

The Castle Douglas Outreach Team offer housing support/care at home services to people living in their own homes in the Stewartry area of Dumfries & Galloway. We work in partnership with the local Community Mental Health Team, Social Work Department and liaise with other agencies.

At Queen Street we offer supported accommodation for people with a variety of enduring mental health conditions. This property can accommodate up to 6 service users at any time. Each service user’s accommodation has its own ensuite shower room, as well as a large communal bathroom. The property also offers 2 communal sitting rooms and a communal kitchen. The service users have full autonomy on their movements & there are no restrictions placed with regards as to when they need be back in the house.

Services offered to each service user range from emotional to financial support, which may be as little as advice on budgeting to giving support at all levels to allow them as much autonomy over their financial affairs and keeping them safe from financial abuse.

Staff offer support socially and emotionally by spending individual time with each service user and, through talking, find out if there are any areas in their lives which are impacting upon their emotional well-being, through discussion and working with external agencies such as CMHT, Social Work Services and local GP practices.

At Castle Douglas the Team leader is Lucy Ross and there is a mix of full time and part time support workers.
