Craigshields
Craigshields is a house of multiple occupants based in the heart of Dumfries offering supported accommodation for 11 individuals who have mental health conditions. Each room has an ensuite toilet facility. The rooms are over 2 floors with two communal bathrooms, 2 communal shower rooms, communal kitchen, lounge, laundry room and dining room. We have a fantastic outside garden area that is well used by the individuals who live here.
Our staffing levels consider everyone's evaluated needs in order to maintain a stable staffing infrastructure. All employees receive specialised training and guidance. We take the time to get to know every one of our residents and learn about their personal histories and values.
Each resident has a designated key worker who assists in creating their own individualised care. We currently employ 8 support staff who are supported and mentored by Team leader, Jordan Kenvyn and Deputy Team Leader, Nicola Stitt.
As a team, we promote community inclusion, where we include the individual ability of service users to carry out daily activities in the community in order to continue interacting with other members in their community to experience what it feels like to be included.
We support our service users who want to move on to single tenancies in the community by supporting them to build on existing skills to enable them to encourage them to manage their own tenancy.
Our aim is to work with people to support them to enhance their self-management skills, learn new skills and achieve their personal goals.
