Claremont House
Claremont House is a small care home located in the heart of Dumfries. Accommodating a maximum of 10 persons with mental health conditions, we offer a 24-hour care service. We make it possible for people with complex mental health needs to lead the lives they want. Everything we do is centred on the people we support. We are dedicated to offering individualised support to make sure that our residents enjoy full, active lives. We work in partnership with the local Community Mental Health Team, Social Work Department and liaise with other agencies.
We as a team promote community integration where we include our resident’s individual capacity to carry out daily activities in the community to pursue interaction with other members of their community in order to feel a sense of belonging.
Our bedrooms are located over 3 floors, are spacious and offer a homely atmosphere. We urge people to add unique touches to make their room theirs. We have recently refurbished our lounge and dining area in our house where you may unwind, socialise, and participate in activities. Our kitchen has also been recently refreshed and modernised to create a practical space for cooking meals. There is 1 ensuite, communal shower rooms on both upper floors, 1 bathroom, shared toilet facilities on each floor. There is also a laundry room where residents are assisted to complete their laundry. We have a communal garden which is well used by all of our residents and perfect for keen gardeners.
Our staffing levels consider everyone's evaluated needs in order to maintain a stable staffing infrastructure. All employees receive specialised training and guidance. We take the time to get to know every one of our residents and learn about their personal histories and values. Each resident has a designated key worker who assists in creating their own individualised care.
We try to make mealtimes as enjoyable as possible, leisurely and calm, allowing everyone plenty of time to enjoy their meal, while conversing and interacting with other residents. Promoting a healthy balanced diet and encouraging choice. Mealtimes represent an important social occasion.
At Claremont House the Registered Manager is Susan Clark and Deputy Manager is Charlene Burns. There is a mix of full time and part time support workers.
